Behind the label:
Ozymandias Wines supports the work of artists from all around the world. Each year a panel of judges selects an artist based on the merit of their project and how they can creatively portray a rendering of it on an Ozymandias Wines label. The proceeds of the respective wine goes towards the winning artist's project, and they are offered mentoring by the Ozymandias Wines team.
This year we are thrilled to present, Briana Navarro, and her label “Burning River.” As an artist and environmental activist Briana intends to raise awareness for the necessity to transition to safe, responsible methods of energy production. Funding from her label will help her make large scale paintings expanding on this theme, and create a mini-documentary expanding on artistic activism.
"The nose is chock-full of dark fruits: blackberries; black cherries; black plum; blueberry skins. On the palate the wine becomes alive and more expressive, with rustic characteristics. Tobacco leaf, saddle back leather, black pepper, smoke dried herbs, peaty and slightly herbaceous. Drink now til 2025. Enjoy with a rib eye, smoked meats, aged cheddar, roasted game, braised lamb, and grilled vegetables."

About the Wine
The 2016 release is a 2013 vintage from North Fork, Long Island. Artisan winemaker Juan Sepúlveda, and Laurel Lake Vineyards have teamed up with Ozymandias Wines for this maiden vintage. Juan brings a lifetime of knowledge from making wine in San Javier, Chile to Long Island where he harnesses the still scarcely known benefits of the Haven loam soil of North Fork and Laurel Lake Vineyards. Juan collaborated on developing this blend with Ozymandias Wines founder Rafe D'Amico, and Creative Director Sophy Holland.
Region: Long Island
Appellation: North Fork
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 60%; Cabernet Franc 37%; Petit Verdot 3%
Aging: 18 months in lightly toasted French barrels which were mainly on their second and third use, to not overwhelm the wine with oak and produce slight candy notes in the wine.
Bottling date: September, 16th 2015
Release Date | Bottles: January 2016 | 1,196
Tasting notes: this opaque substantial wine bursts on the palate with a combination of flavors of ripe berries, toasty oak and a hint of caramel. This is a well balanced wine with a powerful velvet finish that is perfect for both experienced and beginner wine enthusiasts.
